It generates new investment ideas, used to explore market trends, tested to predict the outcome of trading strategies before generating alpha. Assessments commonly consist of knowledge in the disciplines of statistics (probability, variance, covariance, correlations), hypothesis testing, mathematics (calculus, stochastic, differentiation, integration), data analysis and the fundamentals of computer science.
